Why Construction Pulis Exists

Hello, Kapwa Homeowners! We know the stress of building or renovating a home, the shock of unexpected expenses, and the painful reality of being misled during the process.

Many Filipinos, especially Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), lose their hard-earned money to inflated Bill of Quantities (BOQs) and dishonest contractors. The tricks are everywhere—hidden in plain sight, disguised as “friendship discounts” or blamed on inflation.

Construction isn’t rocket science. But it’s often treated as if only engineers and contractors can understand it. We’re here to prove otherwise.

Our Mission

We’re building a community of Kapwa Homeowners unafraid to “wear the hard hat” and ready to understand how builders talk and work.

This way, we can ask the right questions, verify the numbers, and play an active role in our build with clarity and confidence.

“By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established; through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures.”
Proverbs 24:3–4 (NIV)

Kapwa Homeowner

Construction Pulis was started by a homeowner, for homeowners.

Kapwa Homeowner is an OFW teacher who was deliberately scammed by an engineer she trusted. After months of documenting every tactic, she realized these lessons could protect others. Read the full story: An Open Letter to Every Filipino Homeowner

Construction Pulis turns this painful experience into practical tools you can use.

How It Works

Construction Pulis publishes three types of content:

Dispatches — In-depth articles that help Filipino homeowners understand construction, verify documents, know their rights, and spot fraud before it happens. Grounded in real experience, backed by primary sources, written in plain language. These are the core of Construction Pulis.

Checklists — Step-by-step guides for planning, preparing, and protecting your build. Downloadable tools you can use immediately. Published when a topic genuinely calls for one.

Alerts — Quick warnings from Inspector Milo about common fraud tactics, red flags, and mistakes to avoid. Published when a topic genuinely calls for one.

Dispatches stand on their own. When a Checklist or Alert adds value to a topic, they link to each other so you can explore as much or as little as you need.

Visuals & Privacy

Images and graphics on this site illustrate construction concepts and common scenarios using a mix of design tools, stock photography, real project photos, and AI-generated images.

When we use photos from actual projects and buildings, we remove identifiable details to protect privacy. All people shown are AI imagery to maintain anonymity.
